There has always been something about art and design that appeals to me. As far back I as can remember, I've loved colors, fonts, and shapes. I would fill notebooks with doodles of cars and action heroes and draw my favorite brands' logos. I guess you could say that I was always meant to be in a creative field.
My passion for design continued to grow as I grew, and pretty soon, I learned the art of the pitch. I was no longer doodling in sketchbooks just because I enjoyed it. I was making money. In my early 20's, I opened an web design and digital print business.
In my 20s, owning my own business wasn't what I had thought it would be. At the time, I felt there was so much more for me to learn to become a successful entrepreneur. I enrolled in Full Sail University to learn as much as I could about the web. In 2013, I was awarded a bachelor of science in web design and development with honors.
After a short break, I re-enrolled and obtained a graduate certificate in Internet marketing. The skills I've learned have given me many opportunities, but what I am most grateful for is the confidence my education has given me.
After college, I was offered an excellent opportunity to move my family to Colorado Springs, CO, and work with a global non-profit as its front-end designer. Since 2013, I have continued to work at Focus, designing and developing custom digital products using modern web frameworks.
Investing in myself is still a high priority for me. I have taught myself methodologies such as content strategy, responsive web design, and digital strategies within the last two years.
